17th st apartment

Status: DESIGN COMPLETE; HPO APPROVED; PERMIT PROCUREMENT IN PROGRESS

This project is a conversion-renovation of two 3 story plus basement buildings and an addition of 4th story, converting existing commercial use to mixed-use with 1 commercial unit and 9 dwelling units near Dupont Circle in Washington DC. The two original 3 story plus basement brick rowhouse buildings located in a corner lot were built in 1885, and a one story shed attached at the rear of one building was added at a much later date. The two existing buildings have three internal connection points at three different levels. The project combines the two building and lots into one utilizing the whole width of the two lots. Located in Dupont Circle Historic District, the project is to restore and preserve the 17th St facade while minimizing new window openings and visibility of the addition from the street view.
